Can i edit existing config file and just restart Agent service on a Windows server ?

    Dear community.

I have here two old zabbix servers that have some hosts configured to monitor. One Zabbix server is v 2.2 and the other is Zabbix server is v 4.4. These two Zabbix Servers will be removed in the near future because we close that location.

Can i just edit the config file from a monitored windows server with Agent 2.2 and add the IP address of my new Zabbix 6 LTS server, save the config and then just restart the Agent Service on the Windows Server or do i have to reinstall the agent to apply config changes ?

I will install the new Agent 6 in the near future and unistall the old one, (this is just temporary to quick change the monitoring Zabbix Server so that i can uninstall the old ones with 2.2 and 4.4) am just wondering if i can send data from a agent 2.2 to a Zabbix Server with version 6.0 LTS

You should be able to make the change, though there may be items which the older agent may not be able to monitor.

Since we used the zip version of the agent as opposed to an installer, to update the agent all we do is run a script which stops the service, copies the new agent from a network share, and then starts the service again.

I've successfully updated agents from Zabbix 3.0 to Zabbix 5.0 and also from the traditional agent to the newer Zabbix Agent 2 as well.
