slow/delayed value processing, checks are not processed in time - zabbix 6

Hi folks,

we just upgraded to zabbix 6 and many of our checks are delayed/not processed in time now. That leads to triggers fire even though systems/services ARE online/available.
Many items just show "Last check" with 20 minutes or more. If i restart zabbix-server, all items are current for a single time.

I can not see any obvious bottleneck, so any help of you is greatly appreciated. Here are some numbers:

Looks like it was a host with many pre-processing items. the pre-processing queue was at 70.000 entries.
Disabling the host instantly delivered new data for all other hosts.
