Email notification simple error "Failure when receiving data from the peer"

    Hello everyone,

I am trying to setup SMTPs notification with authentication, but when I do, I get the error "Failure when receiving data from the peer" when doing a test.

Please note using MSMTP it works (as long as I ignore certificate).

    Here is my Zabbix config:

Any clues? Where can I find more logs?

    Thank you

    Hi!
Find this error in zabbix_server.log, there is should be some error code, for examlpe:
1480:20180211:230817.561 failed to send email: Failure when receiving data from the peer: response reading failed
1479:20180211:232439.062 failed to send email: Login denied: Authentication failed: 535

      Hey

It is not a Login issue.

      What I found out:
      • Zabbix > Exchange server SMTP: works
      • Zabbix > load balancer HAPROXY SMTP > Exchange Server: doesn't work
Considering the second case works perfectly fine with MSMTP client on the same linux server, and any other tools work through the HAProxy (PowerShell, SQL smtp, Veeam notifications etc). When everything works BUT Zabbix there is really something wrong with it, I do not know what but the SMTP client is not very robust.

We also have same issue, with same message error.
That happened after upgrading to a new version 6.2.6 (from 5.4 version).

Below is our SMTP communication between Zabbix and SMTP Server.

From source link https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...ns/media/email we founded:

            HTML Code:
To make SMTP authentication options available, Zabbix server should be compiled with the --with-libcurl compilation option with cURL 7.20.0 or higher.

But this compile from source (https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...re-the-sources) is only for new fresh installation, so is it possible to do that later (after upgrade)?
Do you have any advice for us?

            Our OS is Debian 11,
            Curl - curl 7.74.0 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) libcurl/7.74.0 OpenSSL/1.1.1n zlib/1.2.11 brotli/1.0.9 libidn2/2.3.0 libpsl/0.21.0 (+libidn2/2.3.0) libssh2/1.9.0 nghttp2/1.43.0 librtmp/2.3

            Thank you for your time.

              Dear all,

We found a solution for this problem.
We had problem with mail server, the Sent folder for our Username was filled with emails, so, server couldn't accept new mails.
After we deleted the unnecessary emails, everything worked.

I hope that will help someone here.

              Best regards
