    Running Zabbix from several machines?

We are about to install a Zabbix machine on our network but had a question about splitting up the various pieces of Zabbix onto sperate machines. The hope is to have the database on one computer, the zabbix_traperd and zabbix_suckerd daemons running on another computer, and apache and the web interface running on a third computer. It seems running the database on a separate machine shouldn't be a problem since the configuration files can be fed the database server's address. Am I correct in assuming Zabbix can use a remote database? Can the interface operate on a separate machine than the daemons and/or database? Finally, how large of a memory/processor load will the Zabbix daemons place on a computer?

Our reasoning behind this plan is we have 3 Pentium 166 computers that are not in use. Each has nearly 300MB of RAM and a 40GB RAID. We were hoping to run Zabbix on some or all of these computers in order to reduce the strain on these old processors.

Any comments on the viability of this plan would be appreciated. Thank you,
    Nate

    yes you can do that,

i went one step further and i clustered my frontend for failover with clustered sql servers. i have 2 sql servers and 4 web servers that monitor about 15k devices and create about 3 million transactions per week, yes i do have 4 gigs of ram, but the load does not go up beyond 40 % or so.

Thanks for the quick reply and the good news! Our network is much smaller, though growing, so our Zabbix machines won't have quite as hefty a load as yours!
