6.2. map.update unable to add links to existing element

I am using pyzabbix to add hosts to existing map. I use the map.get function to retrieve the existing selmentid(see attachment). When I try to add the links to the existing element via the selementeid, I get an error stating the selementid doesn't existing (see attachement)
