    unstable ICMP Ping monitoring

    Hi,

we have set up an an zabbix server with a couple hosts to monitor, unfortunately the system is not gathering ICMP ping data in a reliable way:

as you can see some random times there is no data regarding icmp ping, sometimes there is. Any idea how to fix this. the system is based on a Zabbix 5.4 server running on Debian GNU/Linux (default installation) i already tried to increase the amount of pingers/trappers and so on processes to fork (which helped on earlier zabbix versions)...

    thanks a lot in advance

According to the documentation, Zabbix 5.4 is no longer supported. I recommend you make certain you're running the latest/last version in that series, and be thinking about upgrading to at least 6.0 LTS.

If you're only monitoring "a couple" hosts, you shouldn't need very many pingers or trappers. How often are the ping items being collected? Every 60 seconds? Or more frequently than that?

What version of 'fping' is installed on your Zabbix server? Zabbix has had issues using certain versions of fping, for example: https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-11726

Are there any messages in the zabbix_server.log that are near the times when no data is being collected?
