Zabbix Agent cannot be installed

Hello together,

I have a problem with the installation of the Zabbix Agent.
The Zabbix Agent cannot be installed on one Windows Server 2016. The following message always appears:


This is the error in the eventlog:

Product: Zabbix Agent (64-bit) -- Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action caGetFwStatus script error -2147319780, : Line 159, Column 2,

On all other servers it works without problems.
I have already tried several solutions from the Internet, but so far everything has been without success.

It is a new installation, so there was no Zabbix installed before. According to the forum, this was often the problem.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be and how I can solve this problem?

Take a look at services. I bet there is already a zabbix service not in state running nor in state stopped. You have to reboot the server to remove the service.

No there is no zabbix service. I have already checked this too. But the service can't be installed at all, because I've never got that far with the agent installation.

We had the problem again today on another server after we uninstalled the agent and wanted to reinstall the programme. Here we were able to fix the error by cleaning up the registry (deleting everything with Zabbix).
But on one server, the agent simply cannot be installed, no matter what we try.

You can simply create a directory wherever you want and copy the directory tree there from a similar installation. Change the config. After that, register and launch the service (for example by svcadmin.exe)

According to the error messages from the previous messages, there may be a problem in the firewall service. perhaps it is disabled and the installer cannot add exceptions to it for zabbix....

could you explain the directory thing in more detail?
On this one server, we have the problem that the installation cannot even be started.

The Windows Firewall service runs normally.

Look at the structure of the directory in which the zabbix agent is installed. It is simple but there is. I do not know what it is at you server. Just copy the entire directory from the running server to the problematic one.

You don't need to run the installation. Just copy it.

Then register and launch the service (for example by svcadmin.exe) or PowerShell ( New-Service -Name "YourServiceName" -BinaryPathName <yourproject>.exe )

I have now copied everything and created the service manually. Unfortunately, this service cannot be started now...
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

It happens because before exist in this machine one agent zabbix.
You have uninstall all agent zabbix in windows.

In your eventlog i read "Custom action caGetFwStatus script error". Check if windows firewall service is turned on, if not turn it on and try again.
If you can't turn on firewall service, add "SKIP=fw" flag and retry install the agent.
