    Disk space monitoring value swings

    Hi

We are experiencing something strange. A certain server’s used disk space and total disk space keeps changing each minute and is swinging up and down. The server has almost 1 TB used disk space and the swing is ~350 GB. I monitored the disk usage and total space locally about each 50 milliseconds and don’t see any changes there, while the agent does give a swing every minute.

I provided some attachments: our Zabbix server version, the Zabbix agent version and history which shows the swings.

This is a Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS server. Our Zabbix server is also Ubuntu. Any clue what is happening here? I already tried to reinstall the agent with no success.

    Kinds regards

Well that was curious, our servers went down due to a power failure for a couple of days in de beginning of 2023 and now the swings are gone. The monitored server never gets a lot of reboots, I'm sure its been rebooted before but maybe a longer shutdown could have helped in some way. Case closed

Are the changes about 2x your Zabbix polling value? If so, it's classic of having 2 servers with the same host name reporting to Zabbix. Check other data fields, like uptime.

You don't have to ask how I know....

Oh my god, what a great catch! That was exactly the problem. The monitored server has a duplicate to run tests on and was still disconnected, after connecting the problem reappeared… I deleted the Zabbix-agent from that server. Problem solved! Thanks a lot.
