Cannot link template because its parent template would be linked twice

I've created a new template that we use on several groups of our servers, and I'd like to link it to the "Zabbix agent" template so I can reference the host's status. However, when I try to link it, I get this error:

Cannot link template "Zabbix agent" to template "Internal DNS Checks", because its parent template "Zabbix agent" would be linked twice.

The message sounds simple enough, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what I'm doing wrong. As far as I can tell, I'm linking it the exact same way that other templates are (e.g. the "Linux by Zabbix agent" template). There are only two items in my new template, and they definitely do not conflict with any other items in any other template. I'm also confused why the "Zabbix agent" template is considered the parent for itself...

Any ideas what else to check? Is this a bug that I need to report?

Is your "Internal DNS Checks" template already linked to another template?

Nope. It's been applied to a number of hosts already, and it's part of the "Templates/Applications" template group. It's pretty empty other than that.

What's your Zabbix version?
Is it possible to export and share both your "Internal DNS Checks" and "Zabbix agent" templates?

Ahh... In typing out my last post, I realized the existing links between hosts and templates could be affecting it, and that was the case. If I unlinked the Internal DNS template from all the hosts, I was able to link it to the Zabbix agent template without issues. If I then tried to re-link the Internal DNS template to a host, it gave me the error about not linking the same template more than once. So it looks like I'll have to move some stuff around if I want to add the desired dependencies.
