Zabbix agent for RHEL8.4 on PPC64LE supported?

    Hi all,

We've just started rolling out some RHEL8 servers on our Power platform (PPC64LE), however when compiling the agent I'm getting:

    ..
checking for the linux kernel version... unknown family (4.18.0-305.25.1.el8_4.ppc64le)
checking size of void *... 8
configure: using old pcre library by default
    checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
configure: error: cannot find pkg-config package for libpcre

..does this mean my kernel is not yet supported by the Zabbix sources?

I've tried zabbix-5.0.30.tar.gz and zabbix-6.0.12.tar.gz with the same result.

Thanks in advance for any pointers?

No, it's only warning about the unknown kernel family. That's a combination that probably hasn't been tested much.

The error is from the line that says "error". You're missing .pc file related to your libpcre, which probably means you don't have some devel package installed (either pcre-devel or pcre2-devel, depending on which PCRE you want to link with).
