    SNMP issues in 3.0.1

    Hi,
Yesterday I upgraded my Zabbix environment (Zabbix Server and 3 proxies) to 3.0.1, and since then I have problems with getting SNMP data from network devices (3 firewalls and 2 switches). Before I had version 2.4 and no problems with SNMP. There is nothing fancy in the SNMP configuration. I use the default Template SNMP device (Generic and Interface).

Specifically the problem is that some of the data gets polled, while other doesnt. For example, attachment1 shows how some of the data on interface traffic is updates several munutes ago while other more than 30 minutes ago. attachment2 is a graph for one of the interfaces which show only several dots in the last hour.

As part of the problem I get alerts "More than 100 items having missing data for more than 10 minutes" and the Queue is showing the SNMP items not polling data.

I tried removing the devices with issues and once added again, the data is polled for sometime continuously and then the issues occur again.

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Curious if you found a solution for these issues? I'm considering upgrading from 2.4 to 3.0, but SNMP is crucial. Did you resolve this and if so how?

      Thanks for any info!

Yes, I actually managed to resolve this. Problem was that with the upgrade, the discovery rule in the default SNMP template called Network interfaces reverted back to SNMPv3, and I've been using SNMPv2. Changing back to v2 fixed the problem.

Another thing I noticed is that SNMP OID needs to be changed in Discovery Rules for Zabbix 3. I think this is done automatically with the upgrade for the default templates, but I am not sure for the custom as I didn't have any custom templates before the upgrade. Have a look after the upgrade if all Discovery rules are changed and if not do it manually. An example of the change is in the attached image.

        Good luck with the upgrade.

Great to hear you were able to resolve it. Thanks so much for the details on what to watch for while doing the upgrade.
