Support for SMTP authentication was not compiled in

    Hello everyone!
I am a new zabbix user! I installed zabbix server 3.0 on my centos 6.6 from rpm packages successfully! After I configed items, triggers and media followed zabbix manual, I test by closed zabbix server agent, then zabbix alert, but i can't receive email, and zabbix display "Support for SMTP authentication was not compiled in" in action log.
I googled, someone said libcurl version is too old,and zabbix manual wrote:
--with-libcurl configuration option with cURL 7.20.0 or higher is required for SMTP authentication
then I update libcurl to 7.48 and reconfigure and make install zabbix, reboot my zabbix server ,but email still not works.

I dont know how to fix it ,please help, thank you!

      Hello maocis!

Can you provide more information about how you installed zabbix server?
In your post you are saying that you made installation from RPM packages, and after libcurl update you did --reconfigure and make install.

The problem is, that ./configure and make install are for installation from sources, not RPM packages.

I also faced same issue "Support for SMTP authentication was not compiled in".

I have installed zabbix server 3.0.8 using rpm on centos6.
During server start up I see following logs :

As noted above, upgrading libcurl is required.
After upgrading, it is necessary to rebuild from the source and install it.

If you do not understand this procedure, I recommend using CentOS 7.

          Atsushi

Just tried your instruction step by step to rebuild curl package on freshly installed centos 6.9 but after executing
          rpmbuild --rebuild curl-7.29.0-42.el7_4.1.src.rpm
and waiting few minutes it says:
user mockbuild does not exist - using root
group mockbuild does not exist - using root
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.wduyLs (%check)

          Any tips would get appreciated.

          Regards,
          Aigars

Please try use 'root' user and 'builduser' user.

            Code:
            user : prompt
            root : #
            builduser : $

          Code:

           cat ~/.rpmmacros

          rpmbuild --rebuild curl-7.29.0-42.el7_4.1.src.rpm
          After few more minutes

It seems that only 49 out of 724 cases can be tested.
Even if I newly create a VM of CentOS 6.9, I can build it without error at all.

Is the reason why the test is in error in the log output?
If you ran it as root before, please try to retry after re-creating the rpmbuild directory.
