Templates for VMware ESX hosts and HP Synergy 480 Gen10 Plus SNMP

Documenting what I have found to work for VMware ESX host and HPE Synergy 480 Gen10 Plus SNMP monitoring. For the ESX host monitoring, create a host for your vCenter. Assign the template: VMware. Also, for the host add the following Macros: {$VMWARE.PASSWORD}, {$VMWARE.URL}, {$VMWARE.USERNAME}. Once added, this will add the discovered Clusters, ESX hosts, and VMs. If you want to exclude the discovery of VMs or other items, go to the Discovery Rules for the vCenter host and disable that rule. For monitoring the hardware, this can be done via the ILO SNMP. On the ILO, setup the snmpv3 user setting authentication to SHA and Privacy to AES. For the host on Zabbix, set the Template to: HPE Proliant DL380 SNMP, add the interface with type SNMP, snmpv3, security level: authPriv, security name (user added in ILO), authentication protocol: SHA1, Privacy protocol: AES128, all with corresponding passphrases.

I've got hp gen 10, esxi 8 system and a v-center.I follow all this steps and everything works except the vm discovery. The macro for v center is enough or i have to add other macros somewhere to have the vm inside the esxi ?

You should only need to have those 3 macros within the vcenter host you create. There are 4 Discovery lines for the template - clusters, datastores, hypervisors, and VMs. I've disabled the VMs discovery line since we add those separately.

So i have a problem elsewhere. Why do you disable vm discovery to add it manually ?

We utilize Ansible automation to automatically add a server to Zabbix on server builds. We didn't want to add the vcenter server and potentially have duplicate server records in Zabbix when the vcenter server was added.
