Problem with dashboards as replacement for screens
Hi, I was using Zabbix for years in a big company, just our department is monitoring approximately 500 Servers. Last week we got info about update to version 6.0, previously we were using version 5.4. On first look was everything ok, but then I noticed the screens are missing. And what was even worse, after desperate search on internet, I found out, this was not bug but sadly a feature.
Generally I’m very open to new functions but I have very hard time to understand how is dashboards better than screens, or how should replace it.
There are 2 main problems, maybe can somebody point me to simple and obvious solution, I’m missing:
1 – Limit for number of rows and columns on dashboard
Screens have unlimited (at least theoretically) number of rows and columns, I never reached any limit. So typical screen I was using can have e.g. 3 columns and 30 rows with widgets. Of course, it doesn’t fit on monitor but with simple scroll I can see all necessary details about group of servers.
I had like 50 such preconfigured screens, saved as favorites on my dashboard, with one click and scroll I could see anything I needed.
All those screens have been imported in version 6 as dashboards, but all of them have been cut off after 15 or 16 rows. And it is not possible to add new widgets as I get error “Cannot add widget: not enough free space on the dashboard.”
2 – Export / Import of dashboard is not possible
It was very easy to export any screen to xml, modify it and import it back. This way it was possible in few minutes to create any complicated screens I wanted. Or change existing one.
But there is no option to export nor import dashboards.
