ODBC Monitor and secret text macro not working

We have setup ODBC to facilitate database monitoring for our DB hosts. If we put the password in the item configuration it works correctly. If we leave it as text, all works great with the credentials. But when we set it to Secret Text, it fails with "Access denied for user ',myuser>'@'<my IP>' (using password: YES)".

Can anyone please let us know on how we can fix it by using the secret text option?

I observed the same issue regarding a dell r740 template. text works great, secret not.
