Zabbix 6.4.15 and outdated proxy 6.2.9

Hello dear sirs,

I have some problems integrating Zabbix 6.4.15 with outdated proxy agent - "The requested task is disabled. Proxy major version does not match server major version".

As stated in documentation (https://www.zabbix.com/documentation.../compatibility) it should be possible to get data from outdated proxy, but I keep getting "The requsted task is disabled. Proxy major version does not match server major version.".

What's my problem here? Proxy version is 6.2.9 working in passive mode.

EDIT: To clarify - I'm trying to get SNMP value though this proxy from the host behind the proxy.

What is the "requested task"? Can it be a configuration update (which is not supported)?

I'm just trying to get SNMP value through this proxy from the host behind this proxy. It's pretty clear from doc that config update is not supported for outdated proxy

Ok, so you are saying that the SNMP monitoring configuration for the host was present in Zabbix already before you upgraded the server from 6.2.x to 6.4.15?

It's not upgrade actually, it's just another new Zabbix 6.4.15 server and the new proxy instance configured to listen on another port and use another SQLite backend DB. I think I have to troubleshoot from the proxy side, but it's not under my administration unfortunately I will try to get some logs and DB queue from the person involved.

Then it's clear that your setup is not supported, I think. I interpret the documentation so that any kind of (re)configuration command from Zabbix server 6.4.x is not allowed to proxy 6.2.x. In other words, the old proxy is only usable for upgrade scenarios where the Zabbix server is first upgraded, and the old proxy (with an existing configuration in it's database) keeps the monitoring and data gathering working with the existing configuration, but any attempts to change the configuration is not going to succeed.

So the main problem is server can't populate outdated proxy DB with hosts/items/etc. tables as it's part of configuration process. It was not obvious from doc to me, thanks for clarifying!
