Server not running

I've seen several posts about the Zabbix server not running and tried the replies to resolve but nothing has worked. When I check the server itself, it shows the service running but the web interface shows it not running and none of the hosts I've added have shown any data.
Any help is welcome as I'm a newbe and looking to replace some SolarWinds products with Zabbix.

Try disabling the Firewall on the Zabbix box and maybe SELINUX too and see if that makes any difference

I am running it on Ubuntu so I was able to disable the firewall but no change with the service.

What about your zabbix_server.log file anything in there that doesn't look right...

/var/log/zabbix/

Do you have an zabbix_agent running locally on the Zabbix server...?

I do have the agent running on the server but it doesn't come back with any info.

In the log I am getting an error
"cannot set MySQL character set to "utf8"
database is down: reconnecting in 10 seconds
Connection to database 'zabbixz failed" [1045] Access denied for user 'zabbix'@'localhost' (using password: yes)"

I'm looking back in the install instructions for anything I may have missed.

Thanks for all the help, but since I didn't have but a few hosts in this, I've rebuild and it's working fine this time.
