    "SNMP device" template not working

    Hi, I have a problem with the default SNMP templates. I would like to use "Template SNMP Device", but after adding a new host with this template nothing happens - icon SNMP remains grey and there is no data from switch.

    It seems weird, because monitoring of this switch works with any template created by me. It's only with the default templates that something is wrong.

    Configuration of host is simple, I fill host name, group and ip address fields, then I add template.

    If anyone suspects what the problem is, please share your ideas, it would be a great help.

    Problem appeared on two Zabbix versions: 3.0.5 and 3.2.3.

    Hi,

    when you add snmp device after making sure you open snmp
    in the device itself you should run this check before adding it to zabbix hosts:

    snmpwalk -v2c -c$COMMUNTYNAME $DEVICEIPADDRESS
    and if you get no response then here you have an issue not template related.

    for example:
    snmpwalk -v2c -cpublic 8.8.8.8

    then if you see that its not working and you get- no response check this :
    1.that you actually open SNMP communication at the device itself and check its
    community name the defaulte one should be public but you can replace it to
    what ever you like - just see what it is.

    2. if its working and the template not working go and check the zabbix macros - Go to Administration - > General - > at the right corner at the drop down menu choose "Macros" ->

    there see what is the Macro {$SNMP_COMMUNITY}
    and change it accordenly to your community name
    same as {$SNMP_PORT}
