I have 3 vCenter groups (3 separate clusters) that I'm monitoring with Zabbix. 2 are at a remote site (10G connection), 1 is local. For clusters that are in the remote site, I'm getting a really weird combination of alerts that hosts are down. Usually, I get alerts on all the hosts in a single cluster EXCEPT 1 or 2. It's also not always the same 1 or 2 that don't get alerted on. It's also not always the same cluster. There are also occasionally alerts on 1 or 2 VMs from that cluster. This grouping of alerts has been a false positive every single time. The groups of alerts com
At first, I thought it was a network glitch (dropped packet or two). It would seem that I would be getting more alerts from a wider variety of hosts if that were true. The pattern should also change depending on how long packets were dropped, meaning always alerts on all EXCEPT 1 or 2 esxi hosts shouldn't always be how the alerts hit.
I've done some troubleshooting and while there is occasionally a dropped packet, that doesn't seem like it would cause 7-10 hosts to appear offline (in my opinion).
I haven't found anything obvious in the logs or on the network itself so far.
I would appreciate anyone's thoughts on what's happening.
Thank you!
Scott
