Template import src ver 5.2.7 dest ver 6.4.17 regex invalid

Our division CEO is looking for a product to help with supporting the platform and have budget $$$ for paid product, professional services and support, but wants to see the product function.
There were templates used for older version, but we have newer version installed by IT services.
Templates created in 5.2.7 and attempting to import to 6.4.17, the custom templates are all failing with:

• Invalid parameter "/xxx/preprocessing/1/params/1": invalid regular expression

I have tried escaping brackets \(\) etc but nothing works.
I have a lot of custom working templates for 5.2.7 I cannot use in 6.4 due to this error.
Please help proving use case for Zabbix using the existing templates.
I am not able to upload or attach the exported templates for some reason, in any format, it could be the forum or company browser policy preventing.


If anyone from Zabbix could reach out and assist it would prove a great use case in a large multi-national African enterprise.

Without any examples people really cannot help you...
One thing you can do, is create similar item in new version and export it and look up whats changed...
Or remove that preprocessing and try to import, later put it back in GUI and see whats changed in export...
I think there was a bit of syntax changes from 5.x to 6.x...
