Error: "Host is monitored by proxy group, but proxy assignment is still pending"

    Hello Zabbix community,

I'm reaching out because I'm facing an issue with the following error:
"Host is monitored by proxy group, but its proxy assignment is still pending."

The host is being monitored normally via the assigned proxy, but when running an action script, it fails and throws this error message. As a workaround, I tried switching the host to be monitored directly by the Zabbix server, and that resolved the issue temporarily. However, the root cause remains unclear.

    For context:
    • The monitored device uses the Zabbix Agent in passive mode.
    • The proxy group, which monitors this host, also operates in passive mode.

I'm not quite sure what triggers this behavior, as everything seems to be functioning correctly apart from the script execution.

Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have suggestions on what might be causing the issue?

    Thank you in advance!

    Best regards,
    Holger

    Hi everyone,

The issue has been resolved by updating to Zabbix 7.0.6. It turned out to be a bug in the previous version. After the update, the proxy assignment and script execution are working flawlessly again.

If you're experiencing a similar problem, I recommend checking your Zabbix version and considering an update.

Thank you all for your support and helpful suggestions!

    Best regards,
    Holger

Hi, If an agent is behind the firewall you might consider using only Active checks because in this case you wouldn't need to modify the firewall to allow initial incoming connections. You should also check conf files to see if everything is setup correctly and log files for any errors. Hope that helps.

        Hi Julianna,

Thanks for your suggestion! In my case, the firewall isn't the issue, as I have numerous servers in the proxy group and the communication with the Zabbix agent works flawlessly. All metrics are being transmitted perfectly; it's only when executing a command that the issue occurs.

If you have any other ideas, I'd appreciate any further input!

        Best regards,
        Holger

            Hi,

I'm having the same problem has you, everything is running on the latest LTS version, 7.0.9, but the problem persists...

Checked everything firewall, agents, proxy and the server itself.
