    Monitoring Host over the internet

    Hi guys...

    I am still into monitoring with Zabbix, now my question is as following.

    I use my zabbix server at work, now i want to monitor a windows host in my own network at home. I understand that i need to open port 10050 in my router at work and in my router at home. Right?

    At home i have my router connected with to computers, i am using a internal ip address like 192.168.1.10 for the pc which i like to monitor...

    My zabbix server also uses a internal ip in my network like 172.17.6.217.

    How do i need to configure my zabbix_agentd conf file??

    In my network at work i monitor a windows host and i have configured my file as following:

    Code:
    Server=172.17.6.217
    #Hostname=zabbixserver
    LogFile=C:\tmp\zabbixagent.log
    But how do need to config the file on my computer at home???

    Can someone help me?

    Hi,

    You need a port forwarding on your router at home.
    Connections that come from your company gateway public IP to your home router at port 10050 should be forwarded to your internal PC with IP 192.168.1.10 port 10050.

    You can't tell your private computer to listen to the LAN IP of your company zabbix server, because these are private IP's and never routet to the internet. And of course you have to know the IP of your router at home. Dynamic IP's makes it almost impossible to monitor a PC at home, unless you use some dynamic DNS provider or tunnelling or VPN etc.
    I use no-ip.com since years, and I have no problems to access my home linux system with dynamic IP.

      Hi,

      Now i have the following situation:

      At Home:

      Zabbix Windows Agent

      zabbix_agentd.conf
      Code:
      Server=1.2.3.4
      LogFile=C:\tmp\zabbixagent.log
      1.2.3.4 = the external ipaddress at work

      In my home router i set the following lines

      ip 192.168.1.10 --- port 10050 --- both udp and tcp

      At work:

      in router i bounded my home ip with the external ip at work with port 10050

      In my zabbix server i see the following
      Code:
       /Windows_t/Lokaal_Robbert2 84.25.110.37	10050	Monitored Not available Timeout while connecting to [Lokaal_Robbert2]

          Zabbixserver:/etc/init.d# telnet localhost 10050
          Trying 172.17.6.217...
          Connected to localhost.localdomain.
          Escape character is '^]'.
