Hello all,
I posted this in IRC channel, but I keep having to close laptop, sleep, or completely forget I posted etc etc, so I figured I'd post it here.
Basically I'm using the virt VMWare template to discover hypervisors in a large vsphere environment. We have 30+ locations (corporate and production) and I would like to add a group to each host based on it's locations. I could use the subdomain as each location is broken out via subdomain
I.E. dub4, yyz2, sfo1, etc
I see how this can be done with host filters (and have implemented for VMWare discovery) but don't see any easy way to do it for groups (or other parameters).
I'm thinking it might be possible to drop the subdomain into a macro at the template level using regex against {HOST.DNS}, and then add a group based on the macro, but I'm not well versed enough to figure that out just now, so figured I'd ask and see if anyone has done anything like this?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
If this can't be done I'll just have to figure out how to implement the hypervisor template without discovery and manually import a list of hypervisors and apply the template manually (Which isn't the end of the world..)
