New install, can't connect to database...

The initial steps of setting up zabbix says it can't connect to my database server (which is not localhost).

I am able to connect to the zabbix user and database with the same credentials using MySQL Workbench.

Where do I need to start looking?

Hello starion!

Try to telnet from web interface machine to the database machine to see if firewall is configured well.
Try to have a look at the privileges for zabbix user, if it allowed to connect from web interface machine IP address.
Try to see, if your PHP is compiled with MySQL module.
