How to handle large snmpwalk result

I'm trying to move from lots of snmpget requests to one single snmpwalk, from which I can build dependent items.

Unfortunately, the snmpwalk output is 489946 characters which exceeds the TEXT limit of Zabbix. Does anyone know if there are any plans to support larger text block sizes? mysql and mariadb have MEDIUMTEXT and LONGTEXT which are more than capable of handling this

When using dependent items, you don't actually need to save the master item at all (= history can be set to 0). If you don't save the master item, does the large data still cause some problems to you?

Oh, that's looking promising. I'll see what it's like when I've rebuilt a couple of the discovery rules.

The only main differences seem to be
      • I can't use the "last updated" trigger on the master object, because it never stores a new value
      • the dependent item graphs are points and not lines when you look at time ranges less than 1 day.
