    Zabbix Upgrade Troubles - 7.0.13 to 7.4.2

    Hey Folks,

We're having some upgrade issues with the upgrade from ZBX Server 7.0.13 to 7.4.2. We're using an HA cluster ZBX01 and ZBX02. We're upgrading to utilize some new monitoring capabilities and prep for a needed change to 8.0 for better handling of SSO integrations (7.4.2 includes some changes that will be useful.)

    Upgrade Procedure
    • Stopped secondary ZBX server. Rebooted the primary ZBX node into non-HA mode.
    • Patched the servers from 7.0.13 -> 7.4.2 directly.
    • Restarted primary ZBX node into HA mode.
    • Patched the secondary ZBX node.
ZBX01 (primary for this thread) indicates the DB upgrade was successful. The upgrade in general broke a lot of functionality including but not limited to:
    • Apache (httpd) Web Redirects (Basically mounting the root web directory to Zabbix Web UI.)
    • SSO/SAML (Azure) Integration
    • Host Linking to Templates
    • Template Modification
I've resolved most of the issues except the last two. Whenever I attempt to link a host to a new template via the Web UI, it just hangs indefinitely. I've already disabled some of the security around Zabbix (WAF, IPS Sensors, SSL Decryption, etc.) to no avail. Has anyone else run into similar issues during an upgrade to ZBX 7.4.2? I've gone over the zabbix_server, httpd, and other misc logs where I can find them. I can't find anything in them that would indicate why's it's hanging. The database is fine, nowhere near utilization of any metric. CPU, RAM are all well under control. The DB connections are only at about 10% utilization as well.

    Environment Information
    • ZBX Server (HA): 7.4.2
    • ZBX Database: Azure PaaS MySQL 8.0.42
    • OS Version: RHEL 9.6
    • Web Server: Apache httpd 2.4.62 (RHEL-released)
    • + all the normal php-fpm versions, etc.
Any thoughts appreciated. Otherwise I might need to fill out a bug report :/

I'm no expert with web thingies anymore but have you checked the javascript console or whatever developer tools they are called in the browser to see if there are any apparent reasons when the host linking hangs? Maybe then include those observations (if any) in the bug report.

Good point to check. Nothing substantial.
