    Zabbix 3.4 email Office 365

I know this is probably done to death by now. however all the information i've found on these forums have related to older versions of Zabbix and post stating that SMTP_AUTH will be supported on Zabbix 3.x+

looking at the install guide i have set all the options that i believe should be working with O365.

    to recap.
checking the "zabbix_server.log" i can see "SMTP authentication: YES" ... which indicates to me SMTP_AUTH is there and it enabled.

the media type is set as so. the "SMTP helo" is set as so because if i set my domain i get another error.

username and password are set correctly (i've tested by being able to email using powershell as well as logging on to Office 365)

with all this when Zabbix tries to email out i get an error message that reads:
    "Login denied: MAIL failed: 530"

an SMTP 530 error means that the sender is not permitted... however i know for sure the user account being used is definitely permitted to send mail, my printers are using this account to send mail!

am i missing something in the way that Zabbix sends mail?

hello all, I’m having trouble with my test Zabbix install and sending email via Office 365. I’m using the latest version of Zabbix 3.4. set all the relavant options on the “media type” however when mail is attempting to send to smtp.office365.com i get the following error in Zabbix: “Login denied: MAIL failed: 530” i appreciate an SMTP 530 error means that the sender is not permitted… however i know for sure the user account being used is definitely permitted to send mail, my printers are us...

Just in the FWIW department, you might find it easier to install Postfix, get it working with Office 365, and let it be a relay, then Zabbix can just send to local host.

There are some advantages to this, you can do header rewrites and other addressing changes with the postfix tools; you might need this if Office365 starts complaining about from addresses or other header issues. Another is that Zabbix can send instantly - no delays even if you send graphics or other large items, and these stream out as they can to Office365; outages of the network connection won't cause a missed message then. And in a real pinch if the internet is down, you could actually read mail on the zabbix server (not exactly an exciting prospect to be in character cell mail of course).
