Firstly, thank you for any responses.
Zabbix agent version - All version 7 installers (zabbix_agent2-7.0-latest-windows-amd64-openssl.msi and zabbix_agent2-7.4.14-windows-amd64-openssl.msi
Error code - 2738
Error description - Installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package
Error investigation - Error code linked to VBScript being disabled on the server
Investigation detail:
We have recently run into an error upon installing the Zabbix agent on a new CIS hardened Server 2025 image. In our estate, we have disabled VBScript as part of the hardened image. Upon Zabbix installation, it was discovered that it is using VBScript components during the install to function, leading to an unsuccessful install. For those not aware, Microsoft have released a roadmap where VBScript will eventually be turned off by default and then completely depreciated. Whilst we are ahead of the curve, we wanted to find out if there are alternative avenues to install the required agent, or if there is a Zabbix roadmap that will remove the VBScript component? Reinstalling the VBScript Windows component allowed Zabbix to successfully install, but we would ideally like to avoid this matter, especially when Microsoft will eventually remove it.
