    confusion about acitve and passive

    Dear reader,
I have my windows agent setup for auto registration and active check. When starting the zabbix agent the first time, the host is added to the right group and linked template automatically. Great.
But now i get the message "Get value from agent failed: cannot connect to [[HOST ip]:10050]: [4] Interrupted system call.
I was thinking that when using "serveractive" in agent.conf, I did not have to open up firewall ports on the agent side. Only the firewall port on the zabbix server side should be opened. The clients i'd like to monitor are all over the place. And I do not want to open firewall ports on all locations.
I'm pretty sure my thinking is right, so i'm probably making a mistake somewhere.
    Can anyone help me out?
    thanks
    best regards,
    Ruud.

    ok,

I did not realize i had to clone the " passive" zabbix agent template and, in my case, the windows os template.
I fully cloned both, change triggers from zabbix agent to zabbix agent active. linked them. And changed my auto import rule so new machines will auto add to the windows os active template which has the zabbix agent active template linked.
I removed the host. Restarted the agent on the host, and it is auto added again. After e few minutes is see 168 items, which mention devices i have in my host. So there is communication. but now i'm getting the error:
Get value from agent failed: cannot connect to [[ip host]:10050]: [4] Interrupted system call. Why is the zabbix server still wanting to connect to my host? What am i still missing here?
    best regards,
    Ruud.

Edit: BTW all "not templates items" created when host is imported are set to "zabbix agent" and cannot be change to : zabbix agent (active). But i do not think that has anything to do with it.
Edit: When importing a host, there are extra items dynamically created (item prototypes). These items are set to zabbix agent. For testing purposes i created a fake file to trigger the disk percentage warning for c: on the host. This did not work. When changing the item prototype for disk percentage to "zabbix agent active" i got a notification that there is a problem with the hosts disk space.

So the question now is. How do i make sure that all these dynamically created item prototypes are set to zabbix agent active by default for each imported node?

damn....found it. i overlooked some items in the template.
