SNMP server down, graph shows straight horizontal instead of gap

    hi all,

i tried searching for this topic, but couldn't find anything similar.
I'm guessing its due to the behaviour of how zabbix is charting graphs
I'm a relatively new player and is evaluating this tool for my company.

    I've attached 2 images here
    - latest data
    - graph

At around 12+pm, i shut down one of my servers, which has SNMP item doing polling every 5mins.

Since it is down, i would expect the graph to reflect so. I checked the latest data, true enough, the last check time remains around the time i shut down the server. However, the graph instead draws a horizontal straight line instead of a gap or vertical red line.

Is there any way to change this behaviour ?

    Hi,

Your attached images seems to be from different items..

On first image you have highlighted ICMP response time which is 0

It works as documentation says at https://www.zabbix.com/documentation.../simple_checks

ICMP ping response time (in seconds). If host is not available (timeout reached), the item will return 0.

On second image you have Nutana Cluster latency graph, which is drawn from completely different item named Nutana Cluster latency...

    regards,
    Kaspars

hi, im sorry the highlight was a mistake, the graph was chart base on item "Nutanix Cluster Latency".

The last check and last value is now empty as server is down.

hi, i observed that if the graph was created with 1 item, the straight line occur.

However if the graph contains multiple item (or calculated item), and one of the items does not have data, it seems that the lines will not be drawn (even if one of them has data)

            Hi,
            thanks, you are correct.
More over couldn't make out how this works, could you please share any docs related to making reports and graphs.
I couldn't find much under reporting section.
