    IPMI problems

    Hi:

I'm triying to create a template with a lot of IPMI items, IPMI configuration it's ok cause i'm getting values.
The problem that i have it's that i realiced that because of the number of IPMI items that i create in the template the only way of recieving all items it's to increase timeout in server config. With a timeout of 30 secs. everithing works ok, but with a regular time of 3, 4 secs. i just get 5 values, the rest of items become disabled.

Do someone knows how can i tune this feature without increasing timeout?

    Best regards.

The possible problem - Zabbix is polling all the sensors one by one too often, your IPMI management hardware gets overloaded. (some kind of IPMI DoS attack)

    i see 2 possible solutions:

    1. Increase item refresh time.
    2. Look here https://www.zabbix.com/forum/archive...p/t-44968.html (it polls all sensors at once, then sends them to zabbix. I have used that before, very effective script), i think sources are here https://github.com/Volcano888/Volcan...ft-conf/Zabbix

Use at your own risk, always go through all scripts to see what they are doing !

    Regards,

Thank for the response ... i'm triying to create my own scripts since i read

      ipmi-sensors(8) - Linux man page

      .....
In order to prevent brute force attacks, some BMCs will temporarily "lock up" after a number of remote authentication errors. You may need to wait awhile in order to this temporary "lock up" to pass before you may authenticate again.

Setting up IPMI Monitoring is really a pain in the...

I even had IPMI Polling regulary crashing my Zabbix Server (3.2.7) on Ubuntu 16.04

I monitor IPMI with max Timeout 30secs and an extra Zabbix Proxy dedicated to IPMI. But I still have a lot of gaps in the graphs... IPMI just sucks

          Well....

Switched to Debian 9 for my IPMI Proxy and I am stunned:

          No gaps! Finally!

So trying diffrent OSs and or IPMI Libs can make all the difference in the world...
