We have no communication problem...( checked the ports and the communication rules in the firewall) It was working fine till last month, how come suddenly such an issue crops up, Many sevrers are showing "Available" and "Monitored". but still the latest DATa is not refreshing,

When we delete and add the host -> the data refreshes for first time and again stops to refresh,

    please check this snapshot also

Today I added a test item, in the templates ...few servers are refreshing data...is there a bug with attaching a template...because the moment I made some small changes to the template Few servers started refreshing......

      what could be the problem.....

"Hostname lookup failure" errors clearly indicate that you have problem with name resolution. Check your DNS settings or use IP addresses.

Even in the initial phase I thought the same, hence configured using Ip,

In the config file changed the hostname = <ipaddress> and restarted the zabbix process.

In the console had configured using IP address,,,,,

Checked the DNs entries as well....but no luck.....

Let's not forget..... from the begining it was working fine...but suddenly it is not refreshing data..... if I make changes to the templates from where the host inherrits items and triggers...it refreshes for sometime....again it stops refreshing....

I know this sounds strange to manyu of us,,,,, but This is what we are facing...

          Any workarrounds....?????

I use to face this rare errors playing with zabbix_get command line app from zabbix server machine . The result sometimes is useful to solve it.

                    zabbix_get -s gva1024 -k 'agent.ping'

                    or

                    zabbix_get -s gva1024 -k 'system.run[uptime]'

                        - login to the client,
                        - choose most verbose login for your agent and restart agent
                        - do "tail -F <agentlogfile> | egrep "system.run|<ip you are connecting from>"

                        choose another console
                        - telnet to the host you logged into on port 10050
                        - enter system.run[uptime] (as fast as you can, better paste it)

post output of both terminals here..
