    zabbix_server won't launch (Debian sarge/MySQL)

Installed all software requisites, followed steps to prepare MySQL and compile source. Make and make install produced no errors.

I type in /usr/local/bin/zabbix_server and nothing happens. Just get dumped right back to a command prompt. No output whatsoever. Ran ps -e | grep zabbix just to make sure it wasn't running as a daemon. Nothing.

    Any help?

    Greetings,

First thing to check is if there is a log file generated, usually in /tmp/zabbix_server.log. Failing that, check your system log. If you find no information in either of those, double check your zabbix_server.conf file to see what type of logging you are doing and where.

Just wanted to say thanks, James - the log showed it was complaining about an existing zabbix pid. I cleared it up and now it's running like a champ!
