    "Cannot assign requested address"...

    Hello again.

So I have the server up and running on a Debian sarge box, and I've added a Windows server running the agent.

I'm still a bit confused as to which ports need to be open on which end. I get the impression that 10050 needs to be open on the client and 10051 open on the server... is that right?

At any rate, it appeared to work for a few minutes, but then the trigger "Server {HOSTNAME} is unreachable" began being flagged as true.

I check the server log and it says the following over and over dozens of times:

Getting value of [vfs.file.size[c:\msdos.sys]] from host [(my hostname)] failed (ZBX_ERROR)
The value is not stored in database.

Then at the end of the log it says:

Cannot connect to [(my hostname)] [Cannot assign requested address]
Host [(my hostname)] will be checked after 60 seconds

What could be wrong? I have both ports open on both the client and server. Am I supposed to check to see if some other process is bound to those ports? It seems strange that it would work properly for a few minutes and then stop. Help!

Ok, well, I realized that Windows Server 2003 doesn't have any "msdos.sys" file at the root of the filesystem... so I made one.

This appears to have resolved the issue. I think the agent or server was being overwhelmed with retries of looking for msdos.sys (which is weird because I don't see that trigger anywhere...).
