vfs.dev items

My agents aren't reporting any data for any of the vfs.dev items (the dozen vfs.dev.{read|write}[hdx,,avgN] items in the Unix_t template at the install)

server info: gentoo, kernel 2.6.17, zabbix_server v.1.1.6
agent: Ubuntu, edgy, kernel 2.6.17-11, zabbix_agentd v.1.1

zabbix user can read /proc/diskstats - but all of these, keep going to "not supported by agent"

suggestions? need more info about my setup?
