Monitoring Radius

Hi, i am trying to moniotoring Radius with radtest command, i wrote a script that's run radtest and if its ok return 1 and if it's down returns 0. But when its down the timeout expires, i have increase the timeout to 30 seconds but don't work its still expire the timeout. Have any one other solution?

I achieved radius monitoring by zabbix trapper. Put some script into cron and send result by zabbix_sender..
