Logfile: GetComputerName failed: what is it ?

    Hello,

I am a new Zabbix user. In fact, I'm testing Zabbix through the OpenESM VMWare appliance. After spending a lot of time making the linux server and windows agent to communicate (zabbix server was simply not started :-)), I can now begin to collect data. But I have some error message in the logfile I cannot understand. Can someone please help me ?

Is your computer name 15 characters long? If so, you hit a bug in ZABBIX Windows agent. It has been fixed for 1.3.x, not sure if the fix was intergrated into the latest 1.1.x.

Thank you for your prompt answer.
I was running version 1.1 beta7-debug of the windows agent, provided in an auto-installable package by openESM.
I've just installed the latest 1.1 (5 june 2006) and everything is OK for now.

What about OpenESM ? Do you know this distribution of Zabbix software ? Do you agree with that ?

Again, thank you for your help.
      Regards,
      Regis

Just to complete: I can't find pre-compiled version 1.3.x on the web site. Is it only available as source code ?

          I answered too fast.
In fact, there is no more error message, but with the new version (1.1 final) of windows agentd, no more data is received and the server log file shows:
          ...
Parameter [diskfree[c:\]] is not supported by agent on host ...
          ...

Revert to 1.1 beta 7, everything seems to work properly (data is received), except that the error message is back.

          - Does this error have an impact in Zabbix ?
          - Do I need to use the same version for server and agent ? How can I get the version number of my zabbix installation ?

          Thanks and regards,
          Regis
