Zabbix 1.1.7 and status check on agentd

    Hello,

I have a question about zabbix version 1.1.7
i have several linux based machines witch all run the newest agentd.

when i want to check on the status of the agent i use an item "status" but this item does never receive data while other items do (like free disk space checks, uptime checks, etc.)

when i was running the older version of zabbix server and client (version 1.0) this used to work with no problems.

when i try to telnet from the new server to the new client on the configured port, i get a connection for about 2 seconds (this differs on serveral machines) if i am quick enough and type "status" in the telnet session i see a ZBX_NOTSUPPORTED and the connection is closed right after.

is the check on the status not supported in 1.1.7? or do i do something wrong? or forgetting something? is this a known issue and is there a patch for it? or do i have to check this on a different way?

    Please help.

The special item "status" is calculated internally by ZABBIX server. ZABBIX agent doesn't have to support it. It gets new value only on server status change. Shutdown your agent to see this in action.
