After 1.1.7 to 1.4 upgrade: Maps and graphs are gone (kind of)

    Hi,
I´ve upgraded my Zabbix installation on a Linux/mysql box from 1.1.7 to 1.4. After fixing the user access problems I realised that all defined maps and graphs are gone! On the other hand, the screens are all present. What totally puzzles me is after creating a map for testing and I went on to edit it it holds all the elements of one of my old maps! All defined elements and connections are in place, conditions are displayed correctly! Badly this trick only works once, the second test map doesn´t come up with a second map, same thing with the graphs, no trick to get them back.
On the other hand, the rest of the setup seams to be in place, all of my 40 hosts are there, no problems with the net-snmp.
    Any suggestions are welcome

      Maps fixed

First, the graphs came back, don´t ask me why, didn´t change anything but now they´re showing up.
The maps took some more investigation. I finally fired up the mysql client and took a look at the tables sysmaps and sysmaps_elements. My setup has two maps. The sysmaps only shows the two new maps I have created after the update while the sysmaps_elements table has all the old data from the previous maps. So all I did was changing the sysmapid of the empty map, 3, to the sysmapid of the missing map, 1. Voila, network map is back, boss is happy. What I can see from the data is the following:
      1. Something went wrong during the update process of the sysmaps table. The data wasn´t transfered.
      2. Something has changed / is wrong with the increase of the sysmapid counter. I had two maps in 1.1.7 which had according to the sysmap_elements table the sysmapids 1 and 2. So to the next map 1.4 should give out the sysmapid 3 but in fact gave out 2. I think somebody should take a look at this while this may lead into inconsistencies where the maps are ported from 1.1.7 to 1.4 and then another map is created.

      Greetings,

      Mike
