    host status does not update

    hello,

i found that the host status (0 - normal, 2 - unreachable) usually fails to update. i even have a server restarted without receiving any warning, because i do not receive any updated status. are there any solutions or workarounds? any help will be appreciated.

Do you have ZABBIX or SNMP agent running on the host?

What do you mean saying "usually fails to update"? If the host is down, does ZABBIX show that the host is unreachable?

i have installed a zabbix agent on this host. as you can see the host status has not been updated for 7 days. actually this problem exists on all servers.

i spotted an error today 4/11/04 related to the above issue. the machine is running Windows NT with zabbix agent installed, the zabbix agent failed, which happened occasionally on Windows NT. But when it failed, host status suddenly started to update status to 2, which hadn't been updated for days. when the host status turned to 2, icmpping was either not updated or showed no error.

the problem is, when the host failed, the host status is turned to unknown, it doesn't trigger the alarm. and even icmpping does not guarantee to update too, so there is no alarm at all in this case.
