template linkage after upgrade 1.1->1.4

before upgrade in 1.1 a host was created from template. after upgrading to 1.4.1, this template is not shown in host configuration as linked, and also does not show up in "host linkage" screen.

after patching the problem with trigger deletion, it is possible to manually add this template again.

is this intended behaviour or should old templates be automatically linked after an upgrade ?

I noticed the same thing. I have bene slowly going through my hosts and relinking them to the correct templates and have not had any issues.

well, relinking manually might be acceptable for a small number of hosts, but i would avoid that for anything > 20.

additionally, relinking at least one of my hosts results in another interesting error - http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6827

i'm delaying upgrade because of these two problems - i'd hate to discover loss of data or a lot of manual intervention required to fix some mess caused by seemingly innocent problem

This problem is fixed in the latest pre 1.4.2. You may use SQL patch only leaving original 1.4 or 1.4.1 setup intact.
