    Alexei,

    Didn't want to offend you. If so, my apologies.

    I understand you tested on sles 10, but as this is not out since too long, I guess most of us are still on 9 SP 3 as we mostly wait for the first SP.

    Anyway, despite all my troubles, I think you still have a promising product.

      I concur with gedp, zabbix is top of its class in OSS at this time, but sles10 is still pretty new, and I would gamble the larger linux houses are still using sles9. Just as there are probably more existing rhel4 or older installs, as there are rhel5.

      No offense intended, but these problems aren't due to external 3rd party apps. They are more a result of build dependencies and assumptions based on the significantly newer packages found in sles10.

        agentd

        Helfrez,

        Where you able to compile with --enable-static? I wasn't and as such I can't copy the zabbix_agentd to the clients because of missing shared libraries.

          mmwuahha...we are in sync today, I was just about to post the same question. I have sold older systems I wanted to run agents on..I currently have no idea why it all of a sudden can't compile static. If all else fails, I may have to use another box, but I would much rather get it working. WIll update if I figure out sumthin..

          It's weird that all of a sudden it can't find net-snmp when compiling static...with have to poke around in the configure file.

            It looks to be curl or snmp...not both. Looks like there is some strange interaction in the build process with curl and net-snmp. Once you force upgrade the curl, you break detection of net-snmp. Even with the downlevel version of curl installed, you can detect and compile static net-snmp, but once its upgrade, you can't get snmp anymore, which seems silly.

              Did the following to compile the agent:

              config options:
              {code}
              ./configure --enable-agent --enable-static
              make
              {code}

              You should then be able to use the file *src/zabbix_agent/zabbix_agentd* as client.

                  I wish I did, but everything is internal. I imagine the results on sles9 should be the same as trying to build on suse 93. If you don't have access, I can probably build a 9.3 vm and test it out or provide some access to it for you.

                    Note on client

                    With the new client compile, the cpu.util runs ok again (floating point instead of integer for cpu utilisation)

                      My zabbix server runs on RH ES 4 and I am testing to see if I can upgrade to 1.4.1 from 1.1.7. The configure shows that Curl 7.15 is required but only 7.12 is released for Redhat thru up2date. Like the other said, net-snmp has some dependency on libcurl and I cannot use --without-libcurl and still have net-snmp work.

                        Ok, I have tested all possible conbinations of flags for ./configure under Sles 9. Everything works fine under 1.4.1!

                        Please let me know what combination of options do not work on your systems.

                        MySQL serial type is fixed for older MySQL. Also, required version of libcurl was decreased to 7.13.1 (older versions won't work).
