            This should really read (not translated by a machine but manually by me):

            [The service did not respond in time to the start or control request]

            But, nonetheless, the right english translation doesn 't help either.

            Check the location of the image file in the registry.
            It might be wrong. Check for the location of the Install_Dir, too.
            The config file zabbix_agentd.conf must reside in the same directory.

            HTH,

            Norbert.

              Actually, from my experience with the 1.4.1 windows exe, unless you specify the location of the config file, whether when starting, stopping or installing, it looks at C:\. But it would have given an error message that it couldn't find the conf file if that was the case, and it didn't... could you please post your conf file, Christian?

              Thanks,
              Wurm

                here is my configfile:

                Server=192.168.0.11
                LogFile=c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.log

                the zabbix_agentd.exe is in folder c:\zabbix

                install zabbix:

                zabbix_agentd.exe -i -c c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.conf

                uninstall zabbix:

                zabbix_agentd.exe -d -c c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.conf

                start zabbix:

                zabbix_agentd.exe -s -c c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.conf

                stop zabbix:

                zabbix_agentd.exe -x -c c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.conf

                  Couple of thoughts:

                  Use task manager and make sure there are no instances of zabbix_agentd.exe running or hung, etc.

                  Wow. That's a pretty minimal conf file. I'm not sure what is required to be there, but if you are not disabling active checks, then I believe you need to put the hostname of your monitored machine in there.
                  Hostname=myhostname

                  If you want to disable active checks, then add this line:
                  DisableActive=1

                  Also, my conf file has a Timeout listed, but does not list a default, so maybe it is required? Not sure, but you can add something like the following.
                  # Spend no more than Timeout seconds on processing
                  # Must be between 1 and 30
                  Timeout=3

                  Does anything get logged if you add the following line to your conf file and try to start it?
                  DebugLevel=5

                    Hmmm... broke open the 1.4 manual again, and I may have led you astray on a couple of those conf file parameters... I don't see any mention of Timeout, DisableActive or Hostname in the windows agent section. But maybe setting the DebugLevel will help reveal something.
