Are you using the correct SNMP community string?

            Same problem here.
            I'm using Zabbix 1.4.4 with net-snmp.

Discovery rule is using SNMP v2 agent.
I'm trying to read an OID and use that for the action.
            It doesn't do anything.

When I add tcp service 23, my hosts show up in discovery monitoring.

However, I want to use the OID to decide which template to use.
Anybody have any luck with this?

Today i noticed something in my logs when restarting Zabbix server:

              Code:
              13746:20080107:171421 server #45 started [Discoverer. SNMP:OFF]
              13747:20080107:171421 server #46 started [Discoverer. SNMP:OFF]
Is there a way to turn the "OFF" to "ON" ?
              With kind regards,

              Raymond

This is weird...scrolling a bit through my log files I see the following:

                Code:
                 31796:20080107:173820 Starting zabbix_server. ZABBIX 1.4.4.
                 31796:20080107:173820 **** Enabled features ****
                 31796:20080107:173820 SNMP monitoring: NO
                 31796:20080107:173820 WEB monitoring: YES
                 31796:20080107:173820 Jabber notifications: NO
                 31796:20080107:173820 IPv6 support: NO
                 31796:20080107:173820 **************************
I could have sworn I compiled with SNMP support

Will retry the compile and see what happens....

Well, that seems to be the problem, after recompile SNMP works just fine...I don't get it, but at least it works

I am having a similar problem.

In my configuration:discovery rules, the community string is correct.

In my configuration:items page the community string is "public", so of course it is failing.

Goodness! Where are you finding the logs? I can't seem to find logs anywhere. I'm running 1.4.4 and I'm resorting to grepping every file in the filesystem looking for the logs... I am finding nothing in /var/log... I seem to recall somewhere seeing that zabbix was going to log to /tmp, but there is nothing there but my nagios crap...

I'm fairly sure I have snmp correctly compiled in... But perhaps I'm usiong a broken OS... I'm using ubuntu LTS... LTS is supposed to mean "Long Term Support", but I think it really means something else...

                        In /ect/zabbix_server.conf I see "LogFile=/tmp/zabbix_server.log"

                        But it is not there!

                            Oops!

I found three small errors in my installation.... where there are three, there are more. Let me work through my errors, and then I will report back on whether I really have a problem... or not. I think my main problem is I'm getting old and need new glasses...

Already I see my log files...

Ok, I found another error, and I was obviously not understanding the purpose of the objects on the configuration:items page. Those are obviously default template items, so of course they have the default community string set to public.

My zabbix appears to be properly hitting my snmp devices, but I need to give it more time to see if it is doing something useful. I also need to read the manual, but I hate manuals...

Here is a question that should be easy to answer... I have a block of 8 class c's to scan. How do I indicate the range for a /21 network?

                              10.0.0-7.0-255?
