Zabbix server setup in Windows

I'm trying to install the server on a windows machine. I have the 1.4.1 version. Under the bin/win32 I see the agentd, sender and get .exe files. But I don't know how to go about installing the server. I'd appreciate any help from someone who knows how to do this.

You cannot install the server on a windows machine.
Well... maybe if you used Cygwin but I wouldn't.
Get a linux box with at least 1Ghz with proccessor power and at least 512Ram.\

Our setup is Fedora 6 running zabbix server and web frontend
Then openSUSE 10.2 running mysql

Thank you very much for getting back to me. I do have a problem though. I need to install a free network monitoring solution for my company and for this project we are only using Windows boxes.

Do you know of a product that will allow me to do this?

Unfortunately I don't know of one. You could try using Cygwin which is basically a linux shell running on windows. Build the server from source and it should work. Should even be able to access an sql server running on the host windows machine or across the network.

Download the free VMWare server, install on whatever windows box and run zabbix in a vm on it's own guest os (like centos).

Big Brother has a version that works on windows and is free. It hasn't been updated in a long time (now has a paid version with updates) but I used it for about 7 years before switching to Zabbix last year.

I just thought I would say that I liked BB but Zabbix is far superior and MUCH easier to use/configure. When I started with BB it only ran on unix and that was fine because we had unix servers where I started using it. Later at a company where I implemented it we used the Windows version because there weren't any linux boxes. The Windows version was never as good as the unix version.

I do think at some point the Zabbix team should investigate making Zabbix Server run natively on Windows but there are MANY priorites that should be addressed WAY before considering making a Windows version of the server.

In my opinion the original poster should (depending on how many items they are going to monitor) find a 3-5 year old desktop and install linux and Zabbix on it. In my tests of Zabbix I monitored 15 servers, 3 switches and a router on a P4 1.6GHz Desktop with 512MB RAM and 40GB IDE hard drive (running CentOS 4.x) and it ran fine.

I've have Suse 10.2 installed on a VMware server guest OS. I have been running Zabbix 1.4.1 on it since it came out. It's a very good solution if you only have windows boxes in house.
