Dummy question

I've downloaded zabbix 1.1alpha
Compiled, installed as in manual.
When I'm starting zabbix_server it gives no errors, but not starting.
Where can I find any info about the reasons of such behavior?
Log files or something?

you can tail the logs, check the /tmp directory which is the default directory to store the logs unless you've changed it in the configuration files.

Thank you! I've found the reason of mistake.
Now next question: when I'm trying to add a host for "Simple check" I'm getting an "Simple check is not supported" error.
Why?
