Exponential system load increase after 3-4 weeks

    Hi,

has anyone else seen an exponentially increasing system load when running zabbix for about 3-4 weeks?
Can someone point me in a direction so I can investigate this behavior?

This is Zabbix 1.4.1 on OpenBSD 4.1.

    Regards
    Sebastian

Most likely your database is not optimized.
Increase innodb_buffer_pool_size to half of memory + set innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit=0 if you are running innodb,

or increase key_buffer if you are running myisam.

also check if your history/trends settings are real life compatible.
e.g. history 90; trends 365; and 1000 items reporting all 15 secs will result in a huge database and after 3 (90days) month if housekeeper starts working, your will have real peaks of load any time housekeeper is started.

Could you please post some more specifics on MySQL optimizations that Zabbix could take advantage of? Doing a quick Google search turned back a lot of information; I am still getting my hands dirty with MySQL and would appreciate any specifics someone can offer.

        Thanks!

Unfortunately I must add, our system runs PostgreSQL. So I don't think these things would work..
