    {HOSTNAME} is that a problem?

    Dear sirs , recently i was install the Zabbix 1.4.2 on Centos 5 from REPEL source.
    well everything is playing normal..i added 3 host computers to watch for availability. I have a basic question. In Monitoring -> Overview , i get a lot of {HOSTNAME} list .. i suppose that hostname must be filled withsomething ?
    Other issue is , if i add a host with DNS selected , then the host computer cannot be found for example, in my resolve.conf file i have

    search domain.local
    nameserver 192.168.1.200

    where my 192.168.1.200 is a dns server with domain controller.
    if i ping to temp-host then i get a reply , but if i create host in Zabbix with temp-host in DNS Name entry then i get that this host is not available!! (

    so . . why i get {HOSTNAME} in the monitoring -> Overview ??
    and why i cannot add host's by hostname ? if i set by ip , then everything is going play normal!

    thank you

      The {HOSTNAME} is a variable that will get replaced with the real hostname in the email message. There is\was a patch to remove it from the descriptions on the overview page but it hasn;t made it into the official release.
