    Strange postfix problem

I've got a very strange postfix problem on a CentOS 4.4 box. We're running postfix 2.2.10.

Email's won't go out from Zabbix. Yet if I create an email from the command line locally no problem, they hit the relay host and all is good.

Also the error message is very cryptic.
    Code:
    Oct 25 04:55:20 netmon postfix/smtpd[28362]: connect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]
Oct 25 04:55:20 netmon postfix/smtpd[28362]: lost connection after CONNECT from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]
    Oct 25 04:55:20 netmon postfix/smtpd[28362]: disconnect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]
It looks like Zabbix connects then does something silly or just closes the connection. I've got the email media setup for localhost. I can telnet to localhost:25 just fine and everything looks right.

    I'm at a loss. Ideas?

      Same Problem

I also have the same problem. Using Fedora 7 64bit with Latest Zabbix from the Fedora Repos (Think it v1.4.2-3). Also using Latest Postfix.

THe weird thing is that this used to work, but somehow I broke it (could not yet figure out how I broke it). I also noticed that no SMS's are being sent (not sure why this and the emails does not work)

This is not a problem if I use sendmail, but I prefer postfix because of easy configuration (especially with relay-hosts).

I will try sendmail again and let you know if it is working or not.

      Have you tried sendmail?

Turns out I was having an id-10-t problem. ;-)

The connection which was occuring once a minute was from Zabbix checking to see if SMTP was up. It was. :-) Recheck your configurations, make sure you have the server setup correctly, then that a user has an email address setup correctly and that there is an action properly setup. A problem in any one of those areas will cause it not to work.

That and I was a little "impatient". :-) Hope this helps.

          Same Problem (Also an ID10T)

Cannot believe it, but thanks for the pointer...

I noticed now that I did not have the Email notification set up in the user administration section, even though the SMS was set up (SMS did not work at all). My Actions have been set up properly though and any thing should come through. I have disabled the SMTP Check just to see what the logfile looks like now.

I dont get the funny error messages in the maillog any more, but zabbix is still not sending any messages (the Monitoring --> Actions Tab simply has a "not sent" next to all the notifications) Any idea why this will be? I'm pretty confident that the User, Trigger and Actions has been set up properly.
