    Zabbix_server stops sometimes by itself

    Hello All,

    Sometimes our Zabbix-Server stops and we do not know why.

    OS: SuSE 10.2
    Tried versions of Zabbix_server: 1.4.2, 1.4.3, 1.4.4
    Zabbix_server.log:
    .................................................. ....
    6957:20080204:191605 One child process died. Exiting ...
    6957:20080204:191607 ZABBIX Server stopped
    .................................................. .......................

    Does anyone has the same problem? What can we do?

    Thanks for any help.

    Leonid.

    May I ask you to try pre 1.4.5 code available from www.zabbix.com/developers.php? We fixed a couple of a serious problems in 1.4.4.

      Thanks for your quick answer.
      I tried the new version 1.4.5 but now I get the error in Zabbix_server.log:

      3482:20080212:101533 Query failed:Unknown column 't.type' in 'field list' [1054]
      3482:20080212:101533 Query::select distinct t.triggerid,t.expression,t.description,t.url,t.com ments,t.status,t.value,t.priority,t.type from triggers t,functions f,items i where i.status<>3 and i.itemid=f.itemid and t.status=0 and f.triggerid=t.triggerid and f.itemid=29498

      The server starts but I get no connection to any agent and there is noch change in the frontpage.

        It seems you downloaded pre 1.6 code, not pre 1.4.5!

            Hello Alexej,

            I have unpacked archive (ZABBIX Sources Pre 1.4.x (stable) 5341 12 Feb, 2008), but there there is version 1.4.4 not 1.4.5.

            zabbix:/tmp/zabbix-1.4.4 #

              That's fine. The version number is not updated yet. Make new binaries and check if it works for you.

                OK.
                I have started. We shall look tomorrow. The demon falls through the period of 10-15 hours.

                Many Thanks.

                Leonid.

                  Odd that Alexei didn't suggest you try and debug the issue first.

                  In zabbix_server.conf,

                  # Specifies debug level
                  # 0 - debug is not created
                  # 1 - critical information
                  # 2 - error information
                  # 3 - warnings (default)
                  # 4 - for debugging (produces lots of information)

                  DebugLevel=2
                  #DebugLevel=4

                  Increase to 4 and take a look at the output to try and work out what the cause really is.

                  I've had weird issues with 1.4.4 on MySQL, but not with PostgreSQL as the database. I havn't had any random crashes of the server daemons since the original 1.4 release.

                    All still. The demon has died again.

                      Ok.
                      Before was 3.
                      Now I made a level 4.

                          Yes.
                          It is so important to begin from level 2 ?

                            Nope, chuck it up to 4 so you get lots of output.

                            ie.

                            #DebugLevel=2
                            DebugLevel=4

                            **EDIT

                            Ah, just noticed you have.

                            Has it crashed and produced any more info yet ? Is there any pattern to the crashes ? ie. every three hours or somethign along those lines ?

                              Crash occurs with different period, without an exact interval.
                              The maximal period is 10-12 hour.
                              After start with level 4 (6:20 German Time) while all works without Errors.
                              If the demon will die I shall take log-file.

                              P.S. Excuse for my bad English.
